And a message of hope for the new year.

Dear Reader,

For many years, I’ve had a copy of this piece of art by the remarkably creative artist Mark Podwal on my desk, facing me as a write.

I find inspiration in those musical notes, which I first saw as emanating from the shofar, pouring down on Jerusalem. I later came to think of those notes as rising up in prayer to the Heavens.

Either way, they remind me of the magic and majesty of Rosh Hashanah, when our earthly prayers leave our lips and reach on high…

In these especially uncertain times, may the new year be one of answered prayers — a sweet, healthy, resilient and fulfilling year for us all.
