You are too kind Gary. The mainstream media usually downplays or skirts around the vile side of these psychopathic terrorist organisations and not too subtlety demonise much of what Israel and in particular the IDF does.
I rely on a number of commentators on substack for reliable comment and content these days.
Looking forward to more and thank you for mentioning Matti Friedman’s articles, which I have posted here on Substack in the past. I worked in Jerusalem in Current Affairs almost exactly the same time as he did and can underwrite almost every word.
Fascinating! The same bothsidesism as in US internal politics coverage. Well, the remedy is the same too - cancel subscriptions along with an explanation.
I have been touting this message for a while, and suspect that people are afraid that it is some sort of a Luddite message, which it isn't - the current for profit, i-can-write-anything-that-sells press model is detrimental to people's freedom, and has to collapse before a better one can viably emerge. If you keep buying they'll just keep writing, and won't care less about your feelings.
I immediately read every Matti Friedman article and listen to every podcast interview with him that I come across (there are many and they are easy to find). Also, his book Pumpkinflowers about the Lebanon war was excellent. Also highly recommend Adam Kirsch's new book "Settler Colonialism" for a brief but detailed and clearly articulated analysis of the logical inconsistencies and hypocrisies in the antizionist position (which for practical purposes is equivalent if not completely synonymous with antisemitism).
Gary, BRILLIANT ! In the last few days, I’ve had this icky feeling about the NYT
SLANT. But what can we do?
JEWS, cancel your subscriptions. KADIMA!
Thank you, Gary. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

Looking forward to reading more.

Many thanks for your note, Brad. I am a Matti Friedman fan as well and will now plan to read Adam Kirsch's book. Shanah Tovah.
Gary
So true and so sad.
Thanks, Gary!!
Thanks for putting into words my experience of the current press. Keep at it!
Thank you for this post, Gary, and for the ones to come.
Thank you.
