THANKS FOR A MOST THOUGHTFUL, ARTICULATE AND HONEST ASSESSMENT OF THE DANGERS BROUGHT UPON US BY TWO AUTOCRATIC LEADERS OF THE COUNTRIES WE LOVE AND THAT DESERVE BETTER THAN WHAT THEY CURRENTLY HAVE.

I am disheartened to see and hear how many people throughout the world mistake calls for love, empathy and compassion for weakness, when the opposite is true. It takes strength and courage to care as much, if not more, for your fellow beings than for yourself.

If any country--or any organized society-- allows the selfish and greedy to ignore the rules meant for the benefit of society and take whatever they want from the weak and poor, eventually it will fall.

American Jews Are too busy being nice . These anti Israel protectors want you dead and any and all means should be used to destroy them. As for Israel, sorry, you and many in the West have it backwards. Many people are angry at Bibi because he is not aggressive enough. The hostages can be freed by defeating Hamas.

Some do some don't. In any case it doesn't matter. They don't decide. One thing that several of the hostages did mention is that their captors drew encouragement from anti-government rallies in Israel

Gary, may i suggest you submit this to both the WSJ and NYTimes as an op-ed.. Wow, you captured my feelings exactly.. it's very difficult to be centrist - to loathe the anti-semitic pressure cooker across many colleges; while at the same time know that Trump is using us as political fodder to crush liberal culture and impose an anti-constitutional ideology that lashes out at immigrants, students at liberal colleges, professionalism across governmental agencies, embraces incompetent sycophants for our most important agencies, ignores legal orders, takes pay-for-play to a new level on commutations and pardons. And this in just 4 Months!!!!

And in Israel, Bibi has no interest in any negotiations. We know Hamas is to blame and that the war would likely be over if they raised the white flag. I get that and don't forget about it. at the same time, Gaza is destroyed and will take years if not decades to rebuild - and under new leadership (whatever that may ultimately be)... but the last few months i have cringed more than celebrated, seeing 9 children from a Dr/Dr couple killed ; when seeing no food/supplies trucks coming in, and when a few do trickle in, it's a total free-for-all for distribution - making me wonder how many of the Gazans have been beaten or killed once they received a food package. Hamas's fault? absolutely. BUT, in these past few months i no longer believe we are without blame.

thank you Gary for your courageous voice.. we need it more than ever.

As an American Jew who loves Israel and remembers that it was illegal in the 60's to let the American flag touch the ground, I am witnessing the deterioration of our American values allegedly based in "Judeo-Christian" values. It is a pity that Americans today can only mouth the words without substance, "One nation under God ..." when we pledge allegiance to our flag. Did our forefathers mean to say, one nation under One God? I wish it had been so, but then again, how could it be HaShem Echad when the term to describe our current "Judeo-Christian" represents two gods? There in lies the hiccup in our democracy as we have known it. What a blunder!

You are so typically "the Liberal American Jew." All you do is whine and complain about what Israel should and shouldn't do, from the safety of your nice home here in America,

Believe it or not, your take on things in Israel only serve to make things worse, not better. Much like what we here in America say, is that Netanyahu/Trump could walk on water and you would report that he only did it because he can't swim.

As an American Jew here, I don't have the time or enough crayons to explain to you how wrong your take is on this situation. After re-reading your tome, I haven't been able to find a single thing I would agree with you on!
