So true, Neil. I am in the middle of reading "Hostage," very gripping, and waiting on my night table are "One Day In October" and "10/7: 100 Human Stories"... so sad. Thanks as always for you comments and kind words.(To avoid overload, Must Read: "The Last Manager," bio of Earl Weaver, terrific.)

Thank you for this Gary. While I don't look forward to reading the book, I know I have to. I just received Sharabi's book on being a hostage and know I have to read that, one, too. But the truth is that so much of this stuff is coming out now in book-podcast-documentary form that I don't want to be overloaded. In large part, this is how I feel about Holocaust literature as well. There are some must reads, but we cannot consume our Jewish reading with the -- as Deborah Lipstadt has said for so many years -- "the oys instead of the joys."

Very incisive and helpful analysis which has been lacking in official and mainstream news.

I was in Israel also (arrived Oct. 5 for a wedding scheduled for the 10th...). Everything was Jerusalem as usual...till the sirens went off...

I had no idea, till reading that article, that Israel had ignored warning signs in '73 as well. You'd think such a sophisticated defense system would have learned a lesson... <sigh>
